About Jamie Whiteside
Hi there! I’m Jamie Whiteside, and I’m truly passionate about the outdoors. I’ve spent over 30 years guiding people through some of the most incredible landscapes in the world, and every day I feel lucky to do what I love. Based in Golden, BC, I’m a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) and an Instructor Trainer with Paddle Canada. Whether it’s backcountry skiing, whitewater paddling, remote hikes, river rescue, or leadership training, I pour my heart into every trip I guide.
Since the early 1990s, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my love for the wilderness through skiing, hiking, and paddling expeditions, both here in Canada and internationally. I work with incredible teams at Monashee Powder Snowcats, Mustang Catskiing, Great Canadian Heliskiing and Blackfeather Wilderness Expeditions, but my great passion is designing custom trips for individuals and groups who want to connect with nature on a deeper level.
With a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University, I’m also deeply committed to helping people grow through outdoor challenges. There’s something truly transformative about stepping outside your comfort zone in the wilderness, and I’m honored to be a guide who can help you experience that.
If you’re looking for an adventure that’s more than just a trip—something that will challenge you, inspire you, and leave you with memories that last a lifetime—I’d love to help you make that happen. Let’s get outside and make it unforgettable!

Whether I’m leading you through the rugged mountain terrain, navigating rivers, or facilitating a team-building experience, my goal is to help you achieve your personal milestones, overcome challenges, and discover new strengths within yourself.
The wilderness has a way of transforming us, and I’m here to help you tap into that potential. Together, we’ll tackle exciting challenges, push past limits, and have fun while doing it. Each experience is tailored to your unique goals, ensuring that every moment you spend outdoors is purposeful, rewarding, and unforgettable.
Where I Guide
I lead trips in some of the most iconic wilderness areas of the Canadian Rockies, including:
- Banff, Yoho, Kootenay, and Jasper National Parks
- Glacier National Park and the Selkirk Mountains (notably at Rogers Pass for world-class ski touring), Bugaboos, and most importantly … less well known spots outside of the national parks where one rarely sees a soul yet the scenery is still stunning and all to ourselves!
Trips typically begin in Banff, AB, or Golden, BC, offering convenient access to these stunning regions.
In addition to my work in Canada, I am intimate with New Zealand, the European Alps, Patagonia, the Himalayas, and the High Arctic. From time to time, I offer trips to these destinations, where I can share my personal love for these remote places with you.
Custom expeditions can be designed for your specific interests, whether it’s skiing, paddling, hiking, or a combination of these activities. Let’s work together to craft the adventure of a lifetime!
